i’ve got my MacBook Pro plugged into my machine via standard usb to usb-c. when I frame my job, it’ll frame. however when i go to try and make a cut, it will only stay in one spot, and won’t move. any advice?
Try saving the RD file to a USB flash drive and then running on the controller directly. Do you get the same behavior or different behavior?
That would beat the purpose thought wouldn’t it?? I’ve hooked my windows 10 laptop up to it, and it works just fine.
Export the prefs out of the working windows machine and import them into Lightburn that resides on the Mac…
I’d suggest dumping the USB and use Ethernet, anyway.
It wasn’t proposing it as an alternative solution. I wanted to understand if the fault was at the controller or on the computer side. I wasn’t aware that function was demonstrated using Windows prior.
In that case I think there’s still value in running the test. Want to isolate if the issue if in RD file generation or in communication from computer to controller.
Also, are you using Start button or Send button?
it’s all good. I guess I should have mentioned the windows part… I’m hitting start… I did try hitting send to rd, however it still fired and just stayed in the one spot.
what do you mean using ethernet? and as far as the export, I’m not sure how to do that.
Do you see your design display on the controller’s display panel after hitting start?
Try the USB drive test and report results.
He means as an alternative to using USB. Ethernet connections tend to be more robust and less troublesome.
File->Export prefs
@berainlb @jkwilborn so exporting the pref from windows laptop and importing to MacBook did the trick… thank you for your help!
Glad you’re up and running.
That’s a bit surprising honestly that it resolved the issue. Do you happen to have a saved copy of the Macbook prefs file? If so, can you upload both the Mac and Windows prefs files here? Would like to see what’s causing the issue.
I keep forgetting, we need to start asking that before we tell them to import it
