Laser head crashes at start of burn

Hi All,
I have a K40 using a LX4s controller. I am having an issue where after homing (top left corner) and pressing start my laser head drives further to the rear (Y-Axis) and then to the right corner. It does not matter if I am using absolute co-ordinates, or the other options available.

I have just started to use my K40 again after almost 24 months, it was working perfectly beforehand. Lightburn software was updated 19 Dec 24 so I am using the latest version.

Any suggestions most welcome.

This sounds like it could be related to the origin setting in LightBurn. If you have selected the incorrect corner, your machine’s movement will be mirrored or upside down, which could cause a crash.

If you go to Edit > Device settings, and look for the Origin section, what bubble do you have selected? It should match the corner which your machine homes to.

EDIT: On most K40 the corner is the bottom left.

Hi Colin, many thanks for your reply to my problem however changing and saving the origin to the position shown in your message does not resolve my issue. I reverted back to my old software version - still same problem.

HOWEVER after looking at the ‘destructions’ for my LX4s and setting up again I found that the ‘offset’ was way off! This has now been corrected and the laser head now appears to go where it should. Just got to setup my mirrors again as the vibration of the gantry hitting the end stops has knocked them out of alignment.
