Laser Head moving out of sync

*'m fairly new with the laser and really getting along until yesterday. I tried a "sign: with a frame. The laser head jumps and make scraping sound. It appears to be attempting to swing all the way across the workspace and not just the design. When I removed the frame it printed perfectly. I tried again today and the preview appears to be heading outside of my design… I have attached a copy of the preview. I have reviewed a lot of the forum’s posts but not finding a solution/

Thanks for your input.

You are showing a LOT of overscan. Post a screenshot of your cut settings editor screen and also your entire Lightburn screen with the project loaded.

As you can guess, I’m new and have enough computer knowledge to be dangerous.

Here are screen shots:

I believe I have the information you requested. Please let me know if you need anything further.

Thank you and Happy New Year

Perfect, I see the problem. You are working in mm/sec where you should be in mm/min. You change this in Settings> Units and Grids. (Gears Icon)

Thank you.

Although @thelmuth is correct, I think a more complete answer would beneficial to you.

If you are going 60mph, then it’s the same as 96.5606khm. You have to keep track of the values units.

The machine was set for mm/m and you set the software to mm/s. Your machine can’t run this fast, which resulted in the machine running at it’s maximum speed also creating a lot of overscan (red) in the posted preview.

The $110 value is the maximum speed for the X axes… the Y axes uses $111 value.

I have multiple machines, I have them ALL set to mm/s mainly because I know what it looks like when I run it. I also can’t see any reason to enter 6000mm/m over entering 100mm/s for the speed…

Hope this helps – have fun.

Try reducing the overscan a bit. Default is 2.5%, but it’s giving you an additional 4” of travel each was. Lower it down where it’s more like 5mm and see what that does for you.
