I am having the absolute most difficult time attempting to get my laser started up. I’ve got everything set up and have tried several different ways to try and set my coordinates. I have a Shapeoko 3 XXL and am using a windows based laptop. I’ve attempted to set the origin of the workspace at both the front left (bottom left) and the rear right (top right). Regardless of where I set the origin, I cannot get my laser to coincide with the coordinates on the Lightburn screen. If I click the dead center of the X,Y axis on the Lightburn screen, my laser tries to go somewhere way out of the boundaries. I have my $10 set to 0 and I’ve even programmed in G10 L2 P1 X-812 Y-812. I cannot figure out what I need to do different in order to get my coordinates to be operable to where I can utilize the software.
Leave the offset where it is at the moment.
Set origin to top right in Device Settings.
Home the machine. Then can you run these commands in Console and return output:
$I
$$
$#
?
I will try that as soon as I get home and back to my machine. I have tried to change the origin to all four corners, I have tried to start the machine up in different locations and all sorts of stuff, but I couldn’t for the life of me get the actual laser to go to the location specified on the computer screen. It’s been nothing but a pain as of now. I hope this will help out some.
Does your machine have homing switches and go through a homing cycle? If not, then that changes some things.
Do you use the machine only for lasering or do you run CNC operations on the machine as well?
I do use the machine for CNC and hope to soon use it for laser engraving/cutting as well. I have set up my Macro 1 and Macro 2 buttons to command Laser or CNC though. My machine does have homing switches on the back right corner of the machine are my X/Y homing switches.
Excellent. Will review once you’re able to post the results of those commands.
