Laser is not moving

When I click “Start” The laser in Lightburn, goes to the laser position where it was set and not moving, but keeps burning. When I do Frame it’s moving fine. “Home” also working.

Can you create a simple design like a square in LightBurn and then do the following:

  1. Take a full screenshot of LightBurn showing the design, Cut window, and Laser window
  2. Push “Save Gcode” in Laser window and save a file with .txt extension. Then upload file here.

Your g-code looks fine so I don’t think it’s a fundamental problem there.

A few recommendations:

  1. Stick to Absolute Coords as that will be the most predictable.
  2. Are you moving the laser head by hand at any point? If so, avoid doing this. Move the laser only with the jog controls

Can you confirm that your machine is successfully going through a homing operation at machine start or at least when connecting to LightBurn. I can see that you have “Auto-home on startup” enabled in Device Settings but wasn’t clear if this was happening correctly.

If the machine does home, can you run these commands in Console one at a time and then return the output?

I confirm that machine is successfully going through a homing operation at machine start

Try this:

  1. Home your laser
  2. make square. Set cut settings to a very low engrave setting for your laser and material
  3. set Start From to Absolute Coords
  4. frame
  5. frame again. Does it frame in the same spot?
  6. push Start to begin burn.
  7. push Start again. Does it burn on the same spot?

Make sure to never move the laser by hand. Does the laser work as expected?

I returned it today back to Walmart
