Laser Lens Cleaning

Just received my Sculpfun S9 laser and have run a few (5) laser cuts for cake toppers. Now on the sixth cut the unit is not cutting through the material as before. The previous jobs did not produce much smoke and I added a air assist nozzle that blows air down the same hole as the laser light, so unlikely there is smoke contaminating the lense. How often does one have to clean a laser diode lens to maintain optimal cutting? Any thoughts or ideas what could be the issue here?

I run low pressure ‘air’ at all times when I run, just for lens protection. I’ve done a single run and had to clean a lens, changed to a longer lens to give me more clearance or change air pressure to the nozzle.

It really depends on what you are engraving. Some material go everywhere others not so bad.

Remember the power of most lasers are really in the lens. Keep it clean.
