Laser Master 3 Calibration

Couple of questions. 1. Why does my laser grind or belt slipping when it hits either the top or bottom limit bolts? Does the machine need calibrating and if so how is that accomplished in a hopefully easier way to understand? 2. Why are my diagonal lines not meeting in the corner? Thank you in advance

It should not hit the bolts. Could be a calibration error, could be operator error. When does it hit? What is your start from set at? A screenshot of your entire Lightburn screen showing your project that is giving the issue with the Cuts/Layers panel and Laser panel open would be helpful.

Under this category is improperly configuring the software for your machine or trying to burn parts larger than your laser’s physical workspace area.

Not meaning to correct @thelmuth, it should not hit anything. If it does, you lose accurate position information. That is why your lines are in the “wrong” place.

I apologize for the delayed response. The dimensions of the wastebord grid is 380mm x 380mm. I didn’t make it 400mm x 400mm so I would have room for the numbers but even with the numbers it is still below 400mm.

Because they’re not in the corner in Lightburn. The \ line is corner to corner this / one is not and that’s how it burned. Looking at the burn though you have some slop in your machine. See the squigles on the end. That doesn’t account for going out of bounds though.

There is another person on the forum with a LM3 that is having the same issue of going out of bounds. Let’s see if the same thing fixes both of your problems.

In console type $$ and hit enter key. Copy and paste the entire output here.
Post a screenshot of your Settings screen as well as your Device Settings screen. Post screenshots of your device list with your machine selected.

And I didn’t even notice the line being off on my screen, feeling pretty ignorant right now. I appreciate you pointing it out.

GRBL-LPC
This only applies to a very specific board…

“…a very specific 32-bit board with controllers made by NXP.”

Do you have the NXP board? If not, change your device type to GRBL.

Sorry for delayed response. No I don’t have a 32 bit something… I changed it to GRBL/GCODE. I hope that is correct. I tried framing the waste board after changing it but it is still grinding when it hits the top right and bottom left. My total dimensions are W-396.5 X H-396.5. I took a video and tried to upload it here for you to see but it wouldn’t let me, and/or I haven’t figured out how to do it.

Delay here too, trip back home and ER visit.

I scanned the entire thread and did not see any mention of which laser you have. Is it the 10w or 20w head?

No can do. You have to use Youtube or something else.

It has a 20W head

Set parameter $131=385.
You are using the parameters for the 10w head. The 20w one is much larger.
