Laser not connecting anymore

I’ve been using my SCULPFUN S6 with my Lenovo laptop windows 11 for over a year now with no issue. I ran an update on the computer this morning and now the laser won’t connect. I’ve checked the connection on both ends of the USB and that isn’t the issue and I can see my laser/device is showing but where I used to be able to select my COM option, there is none. It’s only showing Choose One with no other option in the drop down. Laser is ON of course.
I’m not especially well versed with computers, so I’m not sure how to troubleshoot this issue.
I used the laser all day yesterday without issue, so I assume that Windows update this morning may be what’s caused this.

Thank you

  • I also confirmed both the USB ports are working as my mouse works in both and I see that in my device management it’s showing the mouse connected but I also see “driver unavailable” for the other. If I uninstall my device in lightburn, restart and try and reinstall, could this work?

Possibly, but not likely. Since it says driver not found, reinstall the driver.

Thank you for the feedback. I haven’t tried anything just yet.
I’m not sure how to go about doing that, how do I reinstall the driver?
(Basic knowledge of computers, so the simpler explanation the better)
Oh sorry it says USB Service: driver is unavailable

Thank you so much for the assistance!

It should be on the SD card or Flash drive that came with your laser. If not, you can use this driver.

I don’t have an xtool or mac. I have a SCULPFUN S6 dido laser and a Lenovo laptop with windows.

Would uninstalling Lightburn all together and reinstalling it again work?
I tried to just remove the laser in lightburn and find it again but it didn’t work of course, because it shows my laser is not connected, even when it is.

I have basic knowledge of computers, I’m not especially savvy so I’m not even sure what driver unavailable means.

Thank you for your help!

The driver is generic. I just sent you to the xTool site because it’s a trusted source. There are many sites that claim to have the driver thatI don’t trust. Download the Windows file, not Mac. I don’t know if this will fix your problem, but it might.

Oh okay perfect! Thank you so much. I also just found it in this lightburn forum under troubleshooting/connections, with the one for windows, so I will try that and fingers crossed! Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you so much for the help! The driver was the fix!
I wasn’t able/comfortable trying to figure it out myself,
so I took it to a repair place I’ve used before for help, told
them the issue and the recommended solution, he checked
confirmed and repaired the issue in 10 mins. I’m back up
and running. He did also confirm that it was that Windows
Update I had done, that prompted that disconnect.
