Laser not cutting the design nor engraving coreectly

Hi- This week my laser has not been cutting the design set to cut. example, I was cutting a rectangle and it only cut 2 lines, then went home. Engraving is also an issue…I’m engraving a poem and some lines the words are smaller then what is set to engrave. And no, the material is not moving. Here are pics of the cutting…

Are you using the xTool device file or the Lightburn device file?
You didn’t say what model xTool you’re using so it may not apply to you but check here:

Forgive my ignorance on the file question. One file (pictured) was an svg, the engraving I typed directly on lightburn as I did the rectangle that is not cutting. I have the D1Pro 40.

Not the file you’re burning, the device type file.
Did you click the link I posted?
I’m guessing you got the device from the xTool website. It has a lot of problems with Lightburn so they created their own device file which you can get from the link I posted.

Hi.

Welcome to the LB forum @eburrice .

Unfortunately there’s no shortage of problems -with or without LB- when it comes down to xTool products, but here’s a few to start with.

The very first thing IMO is to make sure Your D1Pro works with XCS.
If it doesn’t, it sure won’t work with LB either.

Traditionally xTool has been somewhat tricky to use with LB no matter what they claim at xTool, but most of the kinks can be ironed out by using a specific .lbdev file like @Demus mentioned.

For Your machine it is/was:

[xTool-D1ProV3.lbdev](https://storage-us.xtool.com/resource/xtool/support-attachment/xTool-D1ProV3(1) (10).lbdev)

The instructions how to use it can be found here:

However, since I don’t require the latest features I use an older version of LB (and D1 firmware) for the little bit of lasering I do so I can’t be absolutely sure, but it’s been mentioned that the newer LB versions would not require that separate file anymore.
The more knowledgeable folks can help You with that.

In any case, the firmware version and the LB version has to “match” to make things easier.
Applies obviously to other such things as well, not just lasers, and not just xTool products and LB.

One source of troubles and strange behaviour with xTool has been the SD card acting up, so it’s not a bad idea to replace the supplied one with another one.

Another source of problems has been the supplied USB cable, so if You haven’t done that already, replacing it with something better is not a bad idea either.

Unfortunately the list does go on, but it’s IMO best to deal with a few possible fixes at a time.

Regards,
Sam
