Just got a new laptop, downloaded Lightburn’s free trial. my problem is it won’t engrave, lights come on and it moves, one setting is sp-2533 pwr 40% for engraving, which worked fine on my last laptop I use the GRBL, the Laser moves just like it is engraving but nothing on the wood, using Sculpfun S10. When I open the console window in Lightburn, it sez: Waiting for connection...
First welcome to the forum.
This issue could be due to a low-quality or faulty USB cable, especially if you’re using the one that originally came with the laser. Upgrading to a high-quality cable with ferrite cores might help improve stability and prevent connection drops.
Another option to consider is selecting a different COM port, as connection issues can sometimes stem from incorrect port selection.
Before diving into more advanced troubleshooting, it would be great to hear @misken thoughts—he’s widely recognized as the Sculpfun guru and may have valuable insights on this issue.

I see its a week ago that you had the problem, hope its solved already, but if not consider this:
I had similar experience with a new laptop connecting to a (very) old CNC, that either wouldn’t respond, or responded only to some commands. It had all worked fine with my old laptop. After trying various USB cables to no success, i hypothesized the old and new USB ports weren’t syncing properly. Assumed the old CNC USB port couldn’t keep up with the new super USB3 port of the laptop. (they should be compatible but … perhaps not).
My solution was to plug an el-cheapo 4port USB2 hub into the new laptop and then plug the cable into that.
Immediate success!
Hope that helps…
Thank you very much, the problem was just solved i did clean the old lens and put it back in but it didn’t work, so I had a new lens which i cleaned and installed and it worked fine,
