There are times I like to go over an engraving after the laser has homed. When I do this the laser burns a second engraving right alongside the original engraving.
This does not happen if I have a second, third, etc engraving set in cuts/layers originally.
Thanks,
Tom
I don’t fully understand, but it sounds like you have a mechanical issue where position is lost during/after a job. Show the settings you used. Did you use absolute coordinates? Did you set a specific return position?
Hi and thanks for your interest.
I always use absolute coordinates.
I have an ORTUR LU3-20A laser.
My settings were,line,speed:1350,power:33%,1 pass
I first engraved the job and wanted it a tad deeper/darker so after the engraving finished and the laser homed and stopped I just hit “start” to do a second run on the original engraving. When the laser started engraving the second time it did not engrave right over the original engraving.
I used to do this with my old ORTUR 5 watt laser with no issues.
Thanks again,
Tom
What offset did you have? Maybe show a picture. Still sounds like a mechanical issue where the laser does not return to its original position. If the offset is a millimeter or so.
The offset was 0.12mm so I don’t think that an issue.
In the following case I was trying to recut through padauk. It didn’t cut through the first pass so I tried to do a second pass and this is what happened,
It’s likely that the detection during a home isn’t as accurate as you need.
Once it homes, it should not need to home again unless it looses it’s position.
If this only happens when a home operation is induced, I’d check the switches for being loose. If it detects this by current draw, this may be an issue doing this.
Take some time looking at the limit or home switches. If it’s out in only one axes direction, I’d target that home switch.
Until you figure it out, you may have to skip homing the machine for added passes.
Good luck
Thanks,
I’ll check the homing switches and go from there.
