What is the purpose of the Laser Pointer. I know how to turn it on and set the offset but how does it actually work. How do you use it? Does the pointer come on when framing? On my current machine i dont have a laser pointer so i just use frame to see where my design will cut. But my new machine has a Laser Pointer.
For those of us with CO₂ lasers emitting an invisible beam, it’s the only way to know where the laser will hit.
For folks with diode lasers hidden inside a huge protective shroud, it’s the only way to know where the laser will hit.
For everybody else, it’s a user interface puzzle.
I managed to set up the laser pointer offset and it is working correctly now. Once setup you can use it to set the lower left position of your job without having to frame. I set the X and Y offset by loading a job then firing the laser and measuring the x and y distance from the laser beam to the cross hairs. On my Atomstack A70 Pro it was X=19mm and Y=3mm
I admit to always framing the job before Firing The Laser, because watching that little red dot do what I expect is my last opportunity to prevent a goof when it doesn’t.
I agree, but using the cross hairs first lets me at least set the starting point. Then i run the frame to confirm the size. One thing I noticed on the atomstack is the framing square always seems a bit larger than the actual design. Not sure exactly why.
