I’ve been using Lightburn for a couple years with my NEJE 3 plus, but something changed recently that I can’t seem to figure out.
In Lightburn, if I click the laser move tool to move the laser to whatever position on the work area with the cursor it goes to that position perfectly as it should, anywhere on the work surface.
However, if I have a project like a 4" coaster in the center of the bed for example, and click frame, burn, or whatever, it tries to move the laser out past the stops.
What I can’t figure out is why with the laser move tool, it goes exactly where it should, but when a project is selected in that exact same spot, it thinks it’s many inches away from that spot?
Sounds like you’re using the wrong start from setting. Check this video.
If that doesn’t help sort it out for you, post a screenshot of your entire Lightburn screen with your project loaded with the Cuts/Layers Panel and Laser Panel visible. Also post a screenshot of the Settings Window (Gears icon) with the Units and Grids tab visible and post a screenshot of the Device Settings Window (Wrench and Screwdriver icon).
Ah thank you! I don’t know why, but somehow a default starting position changed from “Absolute” where it used to be. Changing it for my current project seems to have fixed the problem.
It’s weird because it was happening even on old projects that I burned multiple times and never changed settings, just closed them when I was done.
It’s also weird that it tried to go past the limits without an out of boundary warning, even though the machine bed size and all is set and has been set for a very long time.
My laser isn’t the best and only has a limit switch for home, so if it tries to go further on X Y it grinds the belts.
