Hey Everyone, please can you help me with some direction.
I have a large outsourcing order someone asked me due to their laser breaking down.
I am ok with doing the project, I am just very unsure of the costing
I have looked and and read some many different posts that people share perspectives on pricing, and still not comfortable
Do you have any insight to share on what is the right breakpoint on the laser making costs for cutting and engraving, cause I have seen anything from .30 cents to $1.50 per min of laser time, but what I struggle with is the power, speed of the different jobs as all does not require max power, and I always try to make my jobs use the least power for the best result, but yes, power and speed per job can differ greatly
How does one with comfort work on the differences between the different settings
What constitutes the price of laser work for smaller manufacturers is primarily the working time of the machine operator, material costs and finally the depreciation time / amortization factor of machines, including power and consumption costs. If you are liable for tax, it will also be included in the calculation. If it is a one-time action or a friend service, it is fair in my opinion to demand an average hourly wage plus material price and plus approx. 25-50% manufacturing cost. You divide it all by the number of items you manage to make per ime and then you have a reasonable item price.
From my point of view I see it simple, if you apply more power the work finishes faster, if you apply less power you should slow down … therefore you finish in more time.
The variable is time.
With a type of soft material … you finish faster
With a type of hard material it takes longer
With a thicker material it takes longer than with a thin one.
Complex figures take longer than simple figures
Put a price on time, time compensates for power.
