I have a Neje Master 2 with a 20w laser module. I am starting to use it more but have trouble seeing through the green laser safety goggles when positioning the piece. Is the blue positioning light harmful, do i have to wear the glasses during positioning? Also any tips for centering the engraving on picture frames both horizontally and vertically? That has been my biggest struggle thus far. Thank you.
Yes. It is potentially very harmful, especially with a direct strike or reflection. Harm is also cumulative so may not be immediately apparent. Do yourself a favor and be very diligent about wearing your goggles. Also be aware that the provided green goggles are likely not sufficiently protective. You’d best get a pair of proper amber colored goggles that are fit for purpose.
With practice you should be able to pickup on clues to help you with the aiming. If it’s still too hard to see don’t be afraid to increase the power level assuming the material isn’t being damaged. If that doesn’t work then consider getting a camera or scope of some kind that would allow you to “see” the light without direct exposure. Some people add a visible red laser to help them with aiming as well.
There are several strategies you could take:
create an object the size of the frame and frame that. Then place your design relative to the object you used to frame
make a physical mark at the center point of the frame. Use job origin at center with either Current Position or User Origin Start From modes.
