I’ve been using the Laser set tool and targets on my project. It has allowed me to home then place the laser at a precise location on my work space. I then make sure the work piece is aligned with the laser position. All movement using this tool has completely stopped and I can’t get the laser to move using the tool or the move buttons in the move window. Is there a setting somewhere that I may changed that caused this phenomenon? I’m learning and while the tool descriptions when hovering is helpful I wish there was a way of understanding what a change to a specific setting may do elsewhere in the project. By the way, this is happening on both LB 1.2 and LB 1.3. It’s almost looks like a complete reset of my xTool D1 is in order but I don’t know how or if this is possible since I turned off the power and completely restarted my laser as a means of starting fresh.
I suspect the speed of jogging moves is very low. Change this in Move window.
Set at 4000 mm/m
Can you run a job normally even without being able to frame? Try running a job with 0% power and see how it behaves.
Can you provide the following:
- Full screenshot of LightBurn with Move and Laser windows showing and design loaded
- Screenshot of Device Settings window
Continuing the discussion from Laser set tool with Absolute coordinates:
I have sent you the requested screen shots as a email reply. I wasn’t aware that I needed to reply here.
Normally it would be best if you simply replied in the same thread as the original post. No need to create a new Topic for each reply.
You missed replying to my first question in the last post.
Are you able to run a job normally even with this issue? Try setting up a 0% power job and run it. Does the machine move properly?
Separately, try changing the speed in Move window to anything other than what’s there. Does that allow you to use the jog buttons?
Finally, can you push the wrench+screwdriver icon on the toolbar and take a screenshot if the above doesn’t resolve the issue?
I merged the threads in an attempt to tidy it up.
Thank you! I’ll check the areas you asked about this morning. [quote=“Bill659651, post:1, topic:85911, full:true”]

Yes, I can run the jobs and framing appears to be working. I say that because I’ve yet mastered how the xTool D1 laser cross hairs are used in aligning the laser head.
I changed the move speed Fromm 4000 to 2000 no movement at all. The only button in the move cluster that works is the home none of the others are working. The Move to c3enter of page tool does work and I used it to center a job on a piece of cardboard as an example.
You’ve taken a screenshot of Settings from the gears icon. Can you push the wrench and screwdriver icon? That should take you to Device Settings. Then take a screenshot.
You’re saying everything except for jog controls are working which is very strange.
Can you open Console by going to Windows->Console. Then enable “Show all”. Then try using the job controls. Then capture the output from the job attempts and paste here please.
I attempted to send you the console information but I’m apparently not allowed to have more than one link in a post.
I didn’t think it was a link si9nce I cut and pasted directly out of the console. Please advise! Thank you
Try disabling “Enable $J Jogging” in Device Settings. Then retest jogging.
As for console output, if you copy the test and paste here you shouldn’t have an issue. Hopefully the change above works, however.
Disabling the “Enable $J Jogging” fixed the problem. Since I don’t know what that setting does I doubt I would have made that change, especially in the middle of doing a few jobs. I also checked the move toggles and they work as well.
Thank you very much for your help. Is there a reference guide that not only describes the button/settings for what they do but also a reference that might relate a setting to what impact it might have to functionality?
Thanks again!
Glad that worked. If you haven’t already taken a look, the LightBurn documentation is quite nice and to the point.
Thank you for all of your help! I’ve looked at the documentation and yes it clearly describes functionality but if you are not up to speed on some of the terminology or laser friendly terms the description isn’t helpful. Another things is a way to know how a change to a setting will impact functionality and how it may compromise other settings. I’m not sure I’m making this clear but I find that at times I’m lost in the app where I can’t determine what will happen if I make a change or better yet should I change.
Even with the terms being unfamiliar I’d encourage you to go through the documentation… and then revisit it often as you encounter new things. The repeated exposure will help solidify concepts and you’ll find that more things will also make sense as you become more familiar with the application itself.
