Laser speed and power

Hi!

When I set the laser speed with a value less than 3000 mm/min, the laser only works at the max or the min power, no intermediary power…

I have to set the speed with a value equal or greater than 3000 mm/min for the laser use intermediary power steps between the max power and the min power.

Parameter $32 is set to “1”.

Can you help me to fix this?

Thank you!

Tarcisio.

This is worth review: Common Grbl Setups - LightBurn Software Documentation

The issue persists…
If speed is set to a value lower than 3000 (mm/min) laser only works with max or min power…
When I set speed to 3000 (mm/min) laser power assumes intermediary values between min and max power.
Already set $30=1000 and $32=1…
Any other suggestion?
Thanks!

  1. What firmware are you running on your controller?
  2. What device type did you configure in LightBurn for your laser?
  3. Post the .lbrn file you are using for your test please.

Hi!

  1. I’m using the firmware provided by the seller of the controller board: MakerBase MKS DLC32 v2.1 (December/21 update).
  2. GRBL Machine
  3. I’m sending attached the project file.
    Yoda.lbrn (1.7 MB)

The display connected with the controller board shows that the signal power is 0 or 200, when using LightBurn.
When I use the same parameters with LaserGRBL (min power = 0, max power = 200, speed = 1500) the display shows a wide range of intermediary signal values between 0 and 200.
LaserGRBL engraves the image with good quality.

Thanks again!

I don’t see anything obvious in the .lbrn file.

It’s interesting that LaserGRBL behaves differently which is a good clue.

Can you try the following and upload results here:

  1. run $I in console
  2. take a screenshot of your Edit->Device Settings
  3. export gcode from LightBurn for this file
  4. export gcode from laserGRBL for this same file

Upload files here. You may need to change the extension to .txt in order to upload.
