Laser Speed Control

I have been running my Sculpfun 9S for the past few years with lightburn and had no problems until the last up date 2.1.03. I am using a HP laptop which has never been a problem before. As I haven’t been in the workshop for a few weeks this problem has just come to light.

For some reason all my pre-set cut setting have set them selves to 63.33 speed and 60 power. which has never happened before. the second problem is I have no control over the speed of the laser, it only runs at the speed as if it was framing a job even if I change the speed on the panel. Every other function runs ok. I’m running out of settings to check, the power setting seems to be ok as I ran a quick Squair patten to check and could smell burning wood on the bed.

Any ideas. Robert.

Up at the top of this page there is an explanation/help for your specific question.

Thanks for that pointer, I have checked all those settings and they are all set correct, but I still have no control over the laser head, it still runs at framing speed.

I may not have understood your problem correctly, can you try to direct me closer to the problem?
Are these the speeds in general for all laser operations or are they the movement speeds when framing your laser head?
Can you show your settings?

They are speeds in general, if I set the run speed ,the laser head will only run at framing speed no matter what you set.

I think you should post your $$ and then the experts might have a look at it.

Ok I’ll have a go, but I’m away for a few days so will post toward the weekend.

What was the cut speed set to previously? was it 3800 mm/min?

If so, then check your device control units - maybe you were previously working in mm/min and now its mm/s?

If you are trying to use your old mm/min speeds at mm/s units that would explain the “only framing speed” since the speed would just be maxing out.
