Laser Stopped firing mid job 100w Ruida 644x

Hi Everyone,

I was working on a job and the machine beeped that it was done and as i was opening the lid to remove the work i noticed that the laser stopped firing mid work?

Laser is a 100w ruida 644x board.

I have 2 of these and the the bottom 2 red lights are not “on” on the other machine. Pulse fire works fine. I have a feeling its the water sensor possibly? any thoughts?

anything else in comparison between both machines looks no different as far as what lights are on.

Laser power thing is getting power

The 2 bottom lights aren’t lit up on the other machine?

The two leds are LmtX- and LmtY-, indicating it these limits are active (triggered.)

Top led is 5v and the next one down is the ‘run’ indicator.

I don’t think it should sit on top of the limit switches… It seems to think it’s running?

:smiley_cat:

I see. that might be another issue for my machine but it seems to be running just fine X & Y axis.

Found the issue to my laser firing problem.

The power supply is covered with dust from the cutting and it looks like it burnt out one of the power jump things? I ordered a new power supply already hopefully that is the issue and ill be covering the electrical side with tape or something to keep dust away from that area.

One of them looks burnt.

Both water sensor and water chiller are working fine.
Water chiller is a CW-5200 btw

Definitely smoked something in there…

Mine machine is apart, but I’ll check it when I get it back up… I don’t believe it sits on the switches. And agree, doubt it’s an issue to worry about at this point.

Good luck

Thanks man!

Just for kicks I cleaned up the power supply and now it’s shorting lol🤦🏽‍♂️

I spoke with my vendor and I’ll be picking up a new power supply and water sensor.

I did notice that the LED light inside the machine wasn’t working anymore so I just unplugged the connectors for now.

Past experience with a 50w the red dot pointer stopped working and caused the same issue which was pulse fire would work and jobs won’t cut. I ended up unplugging the red light and the machine fired away during jobs. Looks like it’s not the same case here but just unplugged it since my work area is well lit.

Did another test just now.

My working machine pulse fires when the water chiller is on, and doesn’t when it’s off.

Bad machine fires regardless wether the water chiller is on & off.

Sounds like a short somewhere besides the power supply.

Hopefully the new power supply and unplugged lights from the inside make this damn thing fire. Lol

Is the controller set to detect lack of water flow?

I’ve turned mine off so I can run it ‘dry’ (no laser) without listening to the chiller running. Turned it back on when done.

It should give you a wp error when you try and run it without wp.

Is your chiller wired to the laser or are you depending on that junk sensor that came with it?

:smile_cat:

I would be more concerned with how the supply got in such bad shape. There should be no reason for that if the laser has a proper exhaust system. How are your lungs feeling.

Working on a new exhaust setup currently. I have 380 cfm blowers on both machines at the moment… I do need something stronger tho you’re correct!

No smoke is present when I go in the shed to check the machines so my lungs are still in okay condition lol

Issue fixed. New power supply did the trick.

well dummy me I had the sides of the machine blocked off… due to space constraints but I freed it up and now have smooth flow inside the machine. I currently have the same 380 cfm blowers on both machines.

Yes. it is set to detect but id rather not mess with that since I’m very forgetful sometimes ill probably forget haha

Thank you everyone who chimed into this issue!
