This has happened to me twice. A job finishes and I walk away for a few minutes. When I come back the laser is on and and has moved a short distance, 1-2cm, from previous job origin. I am running a home built linear-rail rig, Arduino, GRBL, Laser Tree K20 blue diode.
I have installed a separate 24V power cutoff in addition to my emergency stop switch so that I do not have to lose position. I am curious if others have had this issue.
Usually a bad USB connection. Exchange the cord and make sure that there is no noise on the power lines (other huge consumers on the same line).

I will try a different USB cord. Thank you for the idea.
I had a bad USB socket on a controller board once. Check that too.
Thanks Mike. Where is the trust in reliable hardware components LOL

Not in China, I am sure! ![]()
By the way, the USB socket was surface mounted and it fell off the board. That was a clue on why the USB was not working.
