I just purchased an LP4 and the LP4 software is OK, but I am so used to using Lightburn after three years. After connecting the LP4 to my computer and then trying to find the device on my light burn software, 1.706 or whatever, it wouldn’t find it. I know it is a dual laser, but I want to use it just for the blue diode version, not 1064nm. Can I use Lightburn with my LP4 without having to upgrade to the pro version? And if I have to upgrade to the pro version, am my prorated for what I paid so far and what part of the year I’ve used it? There are lots of things in Lightbourn that I love such as offset when trying to create something and then cutting a small piece just outside those lines. Things like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, can I download a trial version of the pro version independent of my current version? So if I like it, I can then use it, pay for it?
As far as I know, it’s grbl based even though it’s a galvo type machine, so you don’t need the pro vesion. Lightburn won’t know it’s a galvo, so anything specific to the normal galvo may not be available.
Try this link to Laserpeckers lp4 and Lightburn setup page and see if it helps…
If I want to the IR function of the LP4, will I still be able to use it without the pro version or will I need to upgrade to the pro version? Since it is a dual laser, diode (450nm) and IR (1064nm) - can I get by with my basic version or will I need to upgrade?
There should be no need to upgrade to a pro version, it’s a grbl machine for either laser.
Did you download the lp4.lbdev file and install it?
The link I posted for use of Lightburn stated these are the console commands.
The existing M commands are:
M3000: Turn the Range Indicator on.
M3001: Turn the Range Indicator light off.
M3010: Select the 450nm Laser.
M3011: Select the 1064nm Laser.
M3020: Raise the Electric Stand. For example: M3020S1.00 (raise 1.00mm)
M3021: Lower the Electric Stand.
M3030: Switch to LaserPecker mode.
M3031: Switch to Slide Extension mode.
M3032: Switch to Rotary Extension mode.
Jack - not sure what you mean when you say M commands. Are you referring to macros or something else? Is there a link provided in Lightburn to explain what you mean by M commands? I’m a little fuzzy on this subject I guess.
These are actually grbl or gcode commands you type into the Lightburn console.
Commonly, these are assigned to macros so it’s a one click command being executed. Lightburn is only sending this command. It’s up to you to keep track which laser is enabled.
So in Console I would type M3011 to activate the 1064 IR - or what? After I load the LP4.lbdev driver shouldn’t I be able to simply select devices and then find my laser and it would find it? If not, how specifically do I enable my LP4 with specific instructions/command commands?
Yes..
You get the other laser as a default, as far as I can get from the documentation.
You need to create a device, probably the most simple way, is just manual.
Follow the Link about how to use Lightburn, they cover it better because the know the device.
