During my last two upgrades, I’ve received a pop up stating that Setup needs to close LightBurn.exe and it is recommended that I allow setup to auto close the app. No matter if I allow the app to close the app or I close it, I have received a COM error.
For 1.4.04 I had to reboot the system to get the install to work. For 1.4.05, I rebooted and tried the update. Same issue — COM error … So I canx the install. However, when I launched LightBurn it stated it was upgraded to 1.4.05, but I never got a successful install/finish.
I reran it again during this support documentation and it ran commpletly through with a finish install. Not sure if it is an issue or if you need logs. Just wanted to share with you for that just in case.
Thank you for reporting this.
I did the same update on my Windows 10 Thinkpad and didn’t get the same result.
How are you connected to your Boss laser?
I’m glad you’re up and running.
There’s a major one coming in the new year. I can’t say exactly when but we’re definitely in testing.
If and when you decide to do the next update, there is a precautionary step I’d like you to consider beforehand.
In LightBurn, click File, click Export Prefs and save that file somewhere convenient before proceeding with the update.
If things are messed up, please Export Prefs again to capture which settings went awry. Please use a different filename. You should be able to reimport your older prefs file from any time in the last few months to put everything right.
I did the 1.4.05 update on this machine (DEV) and noticed no differences. When I update the operating machine, i will definitely do the before and after saves. 1.4.04 caught me of guard, the next one won’t.
