So im having issues with layered projects when I glue them and use my wood press to hold them in place once they are dry they have moved. Any suggestions on this issue
Use a combination of CA glue and wood glue, just a few strategically placed dots of CA is all that’s required. The CA glue will lock the pieces in poition while the wood glue is drying.
Get the kind that is thicker. It gives you time to reposition parts before it locks down.
I’ve also seen suggestions to sprinkle a bit of salt over the glue
Salt is a traditional woodworking technique and works well. The sharp corners of the salt crystals bite into the wood locking them together. Some glues don’t respond well chemically to the added salt so a good alternative is grains of sand.
If you have the thickness and width, another technique is to tap in some small brads and snip off the exposed portion just above flush, leaving a small point that will lock into the top piece and prevent slipping.
If you can, use locating holes on all of the layers except the top layer. I use doll rod to locate the layers before adhering them.
This is what I almost always do. If it needs to be small use a skewer, otherwise I cut tabs that align the layers.
