LB Created Text and Objects are Engraving at Double the Intended Size

I created a test file in Lightburn with the word Laser some squares and some circles. On the LB work space the text was 3.5" Wide by .9" High. The squares are 1.3" square and the circles have a diameter of 1.5". However, when I engrave it everything is doubles in size. I’m sure I’ve got a setting messed up somewhere but I can’t find it.

It sounds like you need to adjust the ‘steps per mm’ setting in your machine’s firmware. This can be done using the ‘Calibrate Axis’ tool in the Machine Settings window in LightBurn.

Hey Tyler, According to the documentation you linked me to I would need to adjust the steps/mm if the text is squished or stretched. That’s thing, it’s neither of those things. The text looks perfectly normal but it’s twice the size it’s supposed to be and boxes and circles are normal but, again, twice the size that I designed them. While waiting for a response I also tried engraving a vector image and it too looked the way it was supposed to except it too was twice the size I had designed it to be.

Your graphics are being stretched, but on both axes, and in equal amounts. So the end result is a graphic twice the size of what it’s meant to be. If it’s definitely twice the size (and that’s not just an approximation), your steps per mm values for both axes need to be halved.

You can also adjust these values manually through the Machine Settings window. Read the settings from your controller and look for the X and Y steps per mm values ($100 and $101).

OK, that makes sense. $100=1600/$101=1600 so I change them to 800 and see what happens. Thanks, I’ll let you know.

Perfect fix. Sorry I doubted you. I am not worthy.
