Just upgraded to 1.5.02
Started a 3D Slice operation on a Brass Coin
Enabled “Clean up Pass”
what it does is that after EACH 3D engrave pass the Cleanup pass starts
I thought it would only initiate at the end of the 3D slice operation
Thank you Nicky. Checking with the team as I too expect the Cleanup to occur at the end of the layer production.
I also note we need to update the docs for this feature. I have added a request for this from our Doc Team.
@Rick As always Thank you
9.9/10 for quality product
Thank friend!
OK, so I missed it as well.
When you tick the ‘Enable clean-up pass’ to On (green), a ‘Cleanup’ sub-layer is added to that layer and has additional settings. One option allows you to define when you want the clean-up passes to intervene.
Ok Thank you
I was thinking that was how many clean passes to do
Hey Rick,
The feature is pretty useless as it is, it will only clean the path that’s going to be cut. We need an option to select either that or clean across the whole image. It needs to be able to do a proper cleaning pass over the whole image you are doing. Most fiber laser suffer from slag, not from cutting away an area.
One of my pet dislikes, you put out a question which devs could answer or give a solution or tell you that it is what it is.
Spending on purchasing software is a one way street. Its been many days and I am sure devs/support have a lot on their plate but surely ignoring a post which I believe is important resolves nothing.
Thank you for your follow-up. 7PM Saturday evening here, and I have nothing additional to offer at this time. No one has ignored this post, you have made your belief clear. Thank you.
Well what to say, its 2:16 pm in the colonies down under, I know its Saturday?
My reply to this post was not made today.
I don’t want to sound argumentative, but less time telling me what time it is and Day I think would have been better spent telling me I’m barking up the wrong tree, is it something that’s been over looked, has it been discussed, is there a tech issue in doing this?
Has the matter been bought up before, is it being looked at.
I don’t need a pat on the head if that’s what your doing I’m 66 years old not 16, I would have expected a more mature and professional reply.
Avagreatweekend,
Steve
It is being discussed, yes. And as mentioned,
Update, chatting with Oz:
Oz: The feature has a single bug that I’m aware of, and that is that it will clean the last section it engraved, not the previous N sections. For example, if you say “clean every 8 passes” it should clean the area covered by any of the last 8, not just the previous pass. That has been resolved for the next update.
…I made it not clean the entire image because I didn’t want it dulling fine details you had engraved early by repeatedly going over those areas long after they’d stopped engraving. If one wants to rid the engravings of slag, air works far better than a cleaning pass and doesn’t add engraving time.
Sorry for BS I started
Air does not work keeping the area clean with a fiber laser in the same way it would with a Co2.
I would suggest the feature be optional, full or partial cleaning passes.
Any feature loss due to cleaning passes is a lot better than tackling the piece with wire brush/steel wool or Dremel at the end.
I can send you pictures of what a metal coin looks like at the end all the air in the world is not helping it. The effect of slag is not the same on all metals, it is much better with copper/brass … not so great with iron of any type, stainless.
