Lbrn2 file previewer

Would like a PREVIEWER of lbrn2 files. Building several projects at same time and have to open each to see what I want to use/edit… Recent is nice, but again having to open each messing up tracking recent edits vs recent burns.

Ideally an OS app that could display a preview would be perfect, If a View Projects button was available in LightBurn that too would be a good start.

See there is a save PNG option in “Preview” which could help in interim, but this also need enhancement as image should default to current filename and directory not last used directory and no default filename.

Perhaps an option to auto-create a preview png whenever lbrn2 file is saved, that too would be a very good interim solution and would work for any OS.

Would opening multiple LightBurn instances suffice?

It’s definitely more heavyweight than a simple viewer, but you can flip between multiple projects easily enough and even cut/paste between instances.

Do you mean something like this?

Edit:
Or this:

On Windows 10/64 and this is working non-issue for me from its File Explorer.
You need to make sure that your view in that window is set to some sort of icon (Large, Medium, etc.) and not just to show/view the Details of the files contained in that folder.

Hope this makes sense.

No, not what I was looking for, but displayed looks great as well.

Really at this point anything that can view without opening and display looks acceptable, guessing a folder selection interface displayed somewhere?

So YES. What you showed look as a massive improvement.

PS: in Linux when I want to select an image the image is somehow displayable before selecting(everywhere else). This would also be a beneficial improvement.

I have the same issue on my machine… Ubuntu 22.04, actually it’s never shown icons like Windows does… :sob:

Sorry, didn’t realise you’re on Linux.

Few Windows users realize, or care, there are other OS’s out there… Most of the servers you go through are Linux based.

A lot of stuff doesn’t run on Linux natively, like EZCad2…

We’re usually the last to get something, since it’s not commercial…

Good to chime it…

Take care.

Indeed, I’ve played with desktop Linux (Suse & Ubuntu mainly) in the past but it was many years ago. I even had an in-car music player (called the Empeg) which ran on Linux over 20 years ago. You’re correct, most of the internet servers (web email, ftp etc.) run on Linux, and of course there’s Android too. I occasionally have to mess about with Raspberry Pi’s and various NAS boxes which necessitates having to get my hands dirty with a bit of Linuxing sometimes.

Thanks, you too.

Have you seen this little guy…?

They make a cell phone based on this thing…

Yes, amazing isn’t it! I haven’t watched all of it yet - too busy 3D printing and lasering out some 3mm birch ply at the moment!
