.lbrn2 thumbnails not showing in Windows Explorer (LightBurn 2.0.20)

Hi LightBurn team,

I’ve been trying to get .lbrn2 files to show thumbnails in Windows Explorer (instead of just the generic LightBurn icon), but so far nothing works — even after following all the known steps.

Here’s what I’ve confirmed:

  • I’m using LightBurn v2.0.20 (Windows 64-bit)
  • The file LightBurnThumbnailHandler.dll is present in C:\Program Files\LightBurn
  • I’ve successfully registered it using regsvr32 (no errors)
  • Thumbnail previews for images like .jpg or .png work fine in Explorer
  • I’ve cleared the Windows thumbnail cache, restarted Explorer, and double-checked that “Always show icons, never thumbnails” is unchecked
  • Even using .lbrn2 files that I just saved, I still only see the standard LightBurn icon

I also checked the Settings panel in LightBurn, and I don’t see any option to include or enable preview images when saving projects. Was this feature removed? Or is there something I’m missing?

Thanks in advance for your help — I’d really love to have thumbnails working again!

Best regards,
Nicolas
