Leather Engraving Burn

Is anybody aware of process that can take the laser burned part of a leather engraving. Is there a solution you can use to break down the burn area without harming the Leather. In ellfect snoothing down engraved area so it maintains its depth.
I am using an XTOOl S1 40watt Diode Laser.

Most natural materials don’t burn to a certain depth with any kind of repeatability. You really see it in some types of wood.

There are other here that do leather, I don’t, so this is just opinion.

Not following what your desired outcome is, nor can I decipher what your unwanted results are. Pictures would go a long way to getting you an answer.

For my leather projects, I use less power and faster speed - and I also defocus by a considerable %. Without seeing your results vs. expectations, we can only guess what you need.

You can use a CO2 laser to make a 3D leather stamp out of acrylic, and just stamp it without burning the leather surface to begin with
