I’ve had a bunch of effort put into a native tool converter that would take Fusion360, CarveCo, Vectrix and Carbide Create formatted tool files and convert them to the MillMage formatted tool file. We had betas that failed, and betas that few people helped with, but we finally, with the help of a few beta people, got it to the stage where it probably is usable. I wouldn’t say “Rock solid release”, but a good foundation.
We tried having a Windows and Mac based variant, but that ran into issues with MAC, so that was abandoned.. Finally, I decided to go for a web based version, and that took a lot more work to get running, but I think we clawed through all the “gotchas” now.
I’ve run dozens of native files from vendors and beta types through the tool, with various results. Mostly positive. If you want to give it a go.. please watch this video first, then try it.
That should explain most of how to get on, convert, edit and merge data. If anything looks off, I believe that most issues can be solved rapidly now.
I have found many errors with the content of the files from the vendors.. Some were, well, their typos, while other, they probably copied and pasted without checking. Unfortunately, no tool can handle that type of stuff. And this tool is English only, I do not intend any translation.
CarveCo was a bear to convert, and that format took me about two weeks, with about three rewrites to get close to what I want.
Constructive suggestions are very much welcome. If the tool is positive, great.. use it. If it isn’t used much, well, thank you, and I will abandon the effort. The link to the tool is at the end of the video.
I need to get back to making my Artistic boxes, so have fun, enjoy, be careful, triple check the numbers and let me know what you like or don’t like. ( No prizes… )
