May etch fine the 1st time but the 2nd time a few of the letters at the end of the word lower a 1/16th of an inch.
This may require looking at the laser system and motion components to ensure it is not slipping or skipping a tooth, loosing place as it moves. Worth investigation first.

Hi Joel - please check the tension on the belts of your laser, and ensure the pullies are firmly fixed to the motor shafts. This sort of drift typically is caused by loose belts, a pulley that is loose on it’s shaft, or a loose diode mount.
