Library name not carried across when loading saved library

I have noticed that on both 1.16.0 and 1.7.3, that when I save a library on the laser pc then upload that to my 2nd design pc, the correct name does not show on the library version. It either seems to show a random name or the previous saved library. The last loaded does not appear in the list at all.

In the example I saved the library on the laser with date 241124. Then loaded that on the design pc library via the load button. You can see the date on the library after loading is the previous one saved on 091124.

I am never sure whether the library has loaded or not unless I check a recent change on the laser library against the one on the design PC.

Something I am not doing correctly?

Cheers,

David

I guess by doing it that way you are assured of having the latest library file.

My workflow is this, I have a library file for each machine (I have a diode and C02) named for the machine. When I make changes, I just click save, I don’t rename by date like you do and when I open Lightburn on my design computer the same library file loads with the changes in place.

You need to actually load a library file to the design computer for it to populate the list of available libraries. From your description I can’t tell if you’re trying to load a library or just expect it to be in the list.

Hi Tim, I think I mentioned in my post that I use the load button on the design PC. What I didn’t mention is that I use dropbox to act as a server for the two PCs. I tend to make changes on the laser pc, then save, without renaming. Every month or so, I change the name using save as, then load on to the design pc. This gives me some traceabilty and a backup. Also confidence that the two PCs are using the same library file. The name used to come up correctly on the design PC until the LB version that included the list option.

Cheers,

David

I know lightburn doesn’t always play well with Dropbox or other cloud storage, so much so that they recommend not using it for work files. Many have had issue with corrupted files when using cloud storage. I don’t know if that would apply to library files as well. I store my files on a local NAS and have not had any issues.
