Licence update logic question

I think I know the answer to this question, just want to check though.
I have a licence that expired in August 2020 that I have been using no problem.
I would like to use the current version of the software so I need to update my licence.
If each upgrade fee gives me 12 months of updates, to get the latest version I think I will need to buy 3 upgrades?
Aug 20 > Aug 21
Aug 21 > Aug 22
Aug 22 > Aug 23

The total cost of this is more than a brand new licence so It makes sense to get a new one and end up with 1x old licence and 1x up to date licence?

Is my logic and thinking correct?

Thanks

I don’t believe your logic is correct. The way I read it is that you can renew your licence at anytime to get the latest version, you don’t have to pay for the previous missed years

@Mooseuk is correct - a renewal provides 1 year of updates from the date you renew, so you’ll only need 1 renewal. In the future, if you choose to renew your license before it expires, you’ll get an extra 2 months on top of the 1 year renewal.

See this page for full details on how the LightBurn license works:

Ah, so one year of updates from the time of purchase of the renewal, not from the time the last license expired.
That’s brill, Many Thanks
