LIGHBURN does not connect to my OMNI 1 on MACBOOK PRO

I can’t believe that I spend so much money on something (OMNI 1) that need to connect to my MACBOOK PRO using “LIGHTBURN” … You have no idea how much I regret this move to the OMNI 1 and the tons of money I spent for entertaining frustration! I can see that the issued rrelated to USB port between MACBOOK and LIGHTBURN is not NEW and that your onluy response is >>> restart, Reboot, replace your Cable when you know that has nothing to do with the core issue. I am FORCE to use LIGHTBURN for the OMNI 1 and the Macbook Pro but God knows that it is nothing less than frustration and disappointment!!!

Have you reached out to your laser manufacturer for input? Here’s a video tutorial they’ve provided. MacOS users do not need to install a driver to connect to a Galvo laser. My best advice is to try another cable until you find one that is reliable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeBvosQutiM&t=1s

Exactly like I said > restart, reboot and change cables < , well until “I find one that is reliable”… as I said nothing less than frustration and disappointment with LIGHTBURN… p.s. I don’t have any of these problems using XTOOL CreativeSpace or CRICUT Designspace, they accept my cables and connect properly, they accept my USB PORTS and are accessible…

Does your Mac see your ComMarker?

Click Preferences>General>About>Scroll down to System Report. Under Hardware Select USB. Connect and disconnect your laser with it powered on. You should see the device appear and disappear with each connect / disconnect. If your Mac doesn’t find the device when you plug it in, Lightburn cannot find it either.

Many have found connection problems with Mac and their laser to be an issue with how MacOS translates, or rather doesn’t translate the onboard USB 3+ to the USB 2.0 of the laser. The most common solution seems to be using a “dumb” USB 2.0 hub connected though a Lightning adapter. Get a USB 2.0 hub and see if that solves your issue.

If it does appear / disappear then there is something else going on.

Did you follow all the proper installation steps?

Very few programs push the capabilities of a USB cable to its limits, unless you are using a charging cable instead of a data cable, Lightburn and Xtool can/will, although I am not sure how Xtool sends the data, it may send it in smaller batches, whereas I believe Lightburn streams the data.

I am using the cable provided by either XTOOL or COMMARKER OMNI1. If these cables are not compatible with LIGHTBURN, why didn’t LIGHTBURN inform them…

What are the recommended cable to run LIGHTBURN for my OMNI1 on my MACBOOK?

I think there is a misunderstanding on the issue.
Is not the cable per se that is the issue, is the fact MacBooks silently fail the 3.0 usb handshake without warning.

Get a USB 2.0 hub - the cheapest possible - and get it in between the laser and the Mac. that should resolve the issue.

I had ordered a USB 2.0 HUB , without much fait in this solution…. I still don’t understand why, 1 ouf of 15 times, reconnecting the USB2printer in the back of the OMNI1 , LIGHTBURN will suddenly connect to the OMNI1….

Do you have the Commarker or xTool software open at the same time as LightBurn? Other laser software will ‘lock’ the ports that LightBurn uses to communicate with your laser, so they will need to be fully closed in order for LightBurn to find your laser.

Did you follow the steps I outlined above to determine if your Mac is seeing the ComMarker? What were your results?

If your Mac doesn’t consistently see the ComMarker, Lightburn won’t either.
