LightBurn 1.7.08

Just downloaded 1.7.08, but the laser goes ‘busy’ permanently after first action whether that be home, frame or start?

Communication issue, not related to 1.7.08 version. If you roll back to an earlier version and it is fixed, you have a COM port selection error.

If rolling back does not fix it, you have a USB cable problem.

Install the previous version of Lightburn (just run the EXE) and tell us what the result was.

Gone back to 1.7.07 and it all works.

I’m on a MacBook Pro. Even on .07 it has a habit of not coming out of ‘Busy’ after a job is run. How do I recorrect the port settings?

I’m running a NEJE 3 Plus and a E40II.

(1) I have read this complaint before and not seen a good answer.
(2) Not a MAC guy, so someone else will have to hump in to answer.

It seems MAC’s do not play well with USB. You might try a USB cable with one or more ferrites (big knots) on it. You can also buy clamp-on ferrites. This might cure your 1.7.08 issue too.

So would a shorter USB work?

Shorter than what? The USB specs max is 15 feet, but it is recommended to not exceed 10 feet. If you are under this, it is a 50-50 chance of solving the problem. However, it does not hurt to try, right?

The USB was 3m, I’ve now put one in at 1.5m with two ferrites on and that seems to have improved the situation.
