Lightburn 2.0 makes problems with Snapmaker Ray

Hi,

I have updated to the latest version today and after that my Snapmaker Ray does not work anymore as it used to.

  1. It moves sideways in a very high speed
  2. It does not move forward
  3. It does not move to the origin

I am running the machine on a Lenovo Notebook and have not been able to make the move window big enough to be able to check / control all buttons there. That my also be a reason for the other problems.

Shall I roll back to the former version ?

Many thanks and kind regards
Franz

I have now been able to improve the situation a bit.

  1. The speed for the move commands was set to 0, after correcting that and after setting the origin again, the head moves now sideways as expected.
  2. The backwards button moves the head backwards but does not stop until it reaches the rear limit.
  3. The forward button moves the head also backwards.
  4. Sending the head to defined positions works as expected.
  5. Moving the head to the home position or the origin works as well.

Many thanks and kind regards
Franz

I rolled back to the last 1.7 version and everything is working well again. I will wait with the update until the problems of the new version have benn resolved.

I had to import the .lbprefs file from a pre-update day to make mine happy.

Thanks Mike, that sounds good. However, I will keep it with the 1.7 for a while until things have stabilized again.

Glad we had that option. Rollback is painless with Lightburn, not so much with other software. That is one of the many things I love about it. I am finally on 2.0.02 and like it that my old eyes can see the screen parts now.

Definitely, I agree. I am very happy with Lightburn and the updates are usually troublefree. If you run it also with a Snapmaker Ray, I will give it another try. My eyes would appreciate that as well.

Many thanks again
Franz

Yeah, until they had to do a major core rewrite. The usual beta tester group did not illustrate all the possible variations in user’s systems. They got a lot of the issues resolved by 2.0.02, so that was impressive.

At least Lightburn admits the programming issues are bugs. Microsoft called them undocumented features. :joy:
