LightBurn 2.2.00 Early Access — RC-2

The second release candidate of the LightBurn 2.2 Early Access period is available now.

Download here:

As a reminder, you can install Early Access releases side-by-side with the latest official release. That means trying it out won’t overwrite any of your settings, and if you encounter any show-stopping bugs, you can immediately switch back to the live version and keep working.

LightBurn 2.2 is our first release to have a design/layout feature (True Nest) limited to Pro licenses only. If you have a Core license, head to Help → License Management and click the Trial Pro button to get access to LightBurn Pro for two weeks.

Be sure to report issues or give us feedback by email or here on our forum!

Just opened RC-2. 1st? why 2 “move” boxes?

I played a bit with this today, in particular trying to draw a triangle from 3 separate lines using Tool Layer lines to mark where the apexes should be. In settings, I had “snap to shape” checked and “snap to grid” Unchecked. So I drew an inverted T in Tools layer, and then drew the Layer 00 cut lines over the bottom and from the bottom to the top of the vertical line in Tools layer. I had a hard time getting those 3 lines to snap into position. BUT that could well be my lack of experience with Lightburn. So could someone more experienced with Lightburn try something similar, to see if there’s a problem with this candidate in snap-to-object?

My first project, the challenge was getting those triangular roof pieces right. (The engraved lines are to align the shingles.)

your are a great team
kind regards

Does not show up like that in Windows.

win10

Adjust the various Snap distances to your preference, Object Snap in particular:

On a 2650×1440 display, I have Object Snap at 10 pixels and Grid Snap at 0.1 mm, which seems to work well enough.

Indeed! I notice your order of entries is different too.

One of them is probably the new Galvo Move window. I only see one on my side. I’ll forward this to investigate.

I’m not sure if that depends on the selected device type, but for now this is meant for EZCad3 devices only.

aka “Auto Calibration (Labs)” !
@bernd.dk might enjoy this. :slight_smile:

It’s a new algo that we’re testing.

This way, we don’t need to manually capture the 5 pictures anymore, and we’ll get more samples with the calibration card at different angles.

I was using a 1Laser Ruida. while running I noticed the Z actuating between shapes. Never have seen that before. BTW I have documented my RF is not putting out expected power. I am contesting with 1Las about that. getting the runaround so far. I doubt LB has any bearing on it.

Can you tell more details how the Z axis actuated?

Are you using a Z Offset, or Z step per pass" in the Cut Settings?

1Laser’s tutorial here doesn’t cover the necessary Z Axis settings, so it’s unclear if those two features are expected to work, or which exact options are needed in the Device Settings here:

This can have multiple reasons. The most likely one being misalligned mirrors if you ask me.
They have a support doc covering some topics here. (Look for the “Beam Path Missaligned” one.

…I can’t stand it without access to a computer and my laser…, can you give a very brief explanation of how they work in practical terms?

9 posts were split to a new topic: xTool S1 10w not firing where it framed

  1. Yes I was using a Z offset BUT not “per pass” yet the focus is actuating per pass. Issue solved just had never seen it on cam before.

  2. WEAK POWER. I became suspicious of this a while back. I have realigned everything 3 times. Path down through the nozzle is great. Ramp tests have found optimal focus. Fine-tuned the autofocus offset. Then because I had no other XRF to compare too The LA Hobby guy let me send him a material test and he ran the same on his machine. The results are stark. Where to go from here?

How did you solve it?
Turned off the Z Offset, or changed the Device Settings?
Which options do you havce enabled here?

It sounds like you needed to turn on “Relative Z Moves Only”

If that’s done on the exact same model, and with the same type of MDF, I do see a slightly stronger output in the first picture.

But there are just too many variables for me to take an educated guess, whether your laser source has weaker output, or why this could be.

“solved” ment figured out. Here’s the settings as they stand
