Lightburn adds 1mm to all moves / G-Code Generation problem

Hi,

I need Help please. I Try to find a solution since 15h and could’t find one.

Facts

  • Using Lightburn 1.4.00
  • Using newest Grbl Firmware

Here is my Problem:
The generated G-Code seems to be wrong. It adds 1mm to all relative moves.
If have executed G10 L2 P1 X0 Y0

For instance:
I draw 3 10x10mm square positioned at Xpos=10.000 Ypos=10.000.
When I burn it, the all Sqares are correct BUT the second sqaure is shifted 1mm on both axis. The third Square is shifted 2mm on both axis.

Here is the console code:

?
<Idle|MPos:1.000,1.000,0.000|FS:0,0|Ov:100,100,100>
ok

Same Problem with the jog buttons.
In the Move tap: When I enter X0 Y0 in Move to position an click “GO” Lightburn sends the following:
Starting stream

G21 G54
G90
G1 X1 Y1 F301 S1
G90
M2
[MSG:Pgm End]

?
<Idle|MPos:1.000,1.000,0.000|FS:0,0|WCO:0.000,0.000,0.000>
ok

BUT it should be:
G1 X0 Y0 F301 S1

When I enter to the console G01 X0 Y0 the machine goes to that Position and is also reporting it correctly. Then i press the jog right butten (step 10mm) Lightburn generates X11 Y1

Why is this stange behavior? I played around with all setting, but nothing worked for me.
Could you please give me a hint?

Thank you very much!

Can you provide the following:

  1. .lbrn file with your 3 square design
  2. with that design, go to File->Save Gcode and save the gcode with .txt extension and upload here
  3. Run these commands in Console and return output:
$H
$I

Can you include the .lbrn design file too please?

I made new Projekt and aligned the squares correctly at X0Y0 (left bottom)

Your results are odd.

Can you take a full screenshot of LightBurn with the design loaded and Laser window showing please?

Note that i reuploaded the .txt file.

Here is the result: (image is rotated by 90° CW)

Is the gcode file created specifically with the .lbrn file that you’ve uploaded? I can’t duplicate your results.

Can you take a screenshot of Edit->Device Settings?

This looks suspiciously like a problem that was just resolved on the LAHobbyGuy forum. User had offsets similar to this after carriage returned to 0,0. Turned out his cable bundle from the controller to the gantry was under mild tension at the furthest extent of travel and was causing missed steps. He adjusted some slack into the cable and the problem went away.

Not 1000% sure it is the same projekt file, but i think yes. But no matter how often I restart everything and start from scatch. Always the same result.

I think not. There is no Hardware Problem. The generated G-code includes the 1mm “error”

Also when I enter G01 command directly to the console, everything works fine.

I can’t get my head around what’s going on. I’ve never seen LightBurn create the wrong g-code for geometry or motion.

I cannot reproduce your results on my system either.

Are you able to update to the latest version and retest?

Fair enough. Just offering alternatives.

Thank you very much so far. I have no license for the newest version. I asked for an Trial extension.

If you are on the trial you should be able to update without an issue.

Thank you, problem solved. It works with 1.4.01

Great. Although I think it’s likely it wasn’t the update itself as 1.4.00 should have been fine. You may have had a corrupt installation.
