Lightburn Alarm 3 error when framing

Sorry that I’m just now replying back, but the system said I had posted too many times for a new user and I had to wait 6 hours. Well the 6 hours ended up being more than 6 hours. When I first set it up, I used ilaser with Lightburn v1.0.02 based off of a YouTube video I watched. Moving forward I upgraded to Lightburn v1.3.x and I had to setup the laser again and I used Grbl. It worked for a day Sunday and on Monday, yesterday, I started to have the issue. I’ve tried setting the laser back to iLaser as well as removing the Lightburn and reinstalling v1.0.02

So you never installed a serial driver for WCH340 or anything like this?

You definitely don’t want iLaser. That’s a false positive detection. You definitely want GRBL.

I’m reluctant to ask you to update the driver if it was working properly for some time. However, I’m not sure what else it could be.

If you could attempt to connect from a different computer that would do the most to help isolate the potential source of the issue.

I just downloaded Windows version and it worked fine. It’s strange that my Mac mini just stopped working when it was working fine. I can try to unzip the CH34x ear file and install to see if that will help.

That’s good. So at least narrowed down to a computer issue and I would guess almost certainly a communications issue.

I think it’s worth a shot.

Where did you get this file?

I think this is the generally recommended source for the driver:
CH340 Drivers for Windows, Mac and Linux (gogo.co.nz)

I got it off of the thumb drive that came with ny laser. I tried it and it made no difference.

The version is also 1.5

Perhaps try the driver from the link unless it’s identical. I believe they also include instructions about checking if you have multiple drivers potentially conflicting.

May want to see if that’s a possibility.

Just an fyi, I was able to get it to work by performing a full format and restore on my Mac Mini. I also started with LightBurn 1.3.01 instead of 1.0.02 that came on the Thumb drive. I didn’t have to load the WCH340 driver. One thing I noticed is that I did get a message saying Rosetta needed to be installed before using LightBurn. IT’s still strange die to I’ve had my Mini for about 3 weeks and I haven’t loaded much on it since getting it. Jus Davinci Resolve and that’s about it. Oh well it’s working for now. Thanks for your help!

Awesome news. Even if a drastic measure.

I suspect what happened is that the Rosetta cache for LightBurn may have gotten corrupted. I’m wondering now if a reinstallation of Rosetta alone would have resolved the issue.

Nice persistence in any case.
