I’ve run Lightburn for a couple years on Ubuntu, so yes it does…
If your Atomstack is a grbl machine, I would think it would work.
If you are new to Ubuntu, follow the specific recommendations for the requirements:
And the installation process:
Searching the forum for recent posts on “Linux” will produce several discussions about how various distros behave. Note that USB cameras can pose problems, depending on which distro you are trying to use.
Based on personal experience, LightBurn runs fine on Manjaro Linux, but Manjaro is not a good choice for Linux newbies.
You are absolutely right in what you write.
The only thing I don’t quite understand is that you think Manjaro is not the best choice for a beginner? Definitely not to discuss but as a newbie all distros are strangers
But Ubuntu 20.04 is the safest thing to go for - in connection with LightBurn.
But some distros are stranger than others!
Ubuntu has one compelling advantage: essentially all advice floating around on the InterWebs applies to Ubuntu. As a result, an inexperienced user is more likely to be able to solve a random problem.
Manjaro is based on Arch Linux, but suggesting a newcomer peruse the Arch Linux Wiki for help seems like tossing a duckling into a brush chipper.

I’d suggest for a new user that you do a clean install with the latest and greatest version.
Linux was developed because most people can’t afford the AT&T licensed UNIX (or hardware to run it on), both are very similar except for costs to the user.
Virtually all of Linux development is due to unpaid programmer/analysts.
Debian is the purest form of Linux, with 100% of it’s code, open source. Most Linux derivatives have a common root in Debian. Most servers that you use everyday are more than likely Linux based…
Ubuntu is probably the most widely used for non commercial applications.
I’ve been running some form of Linux since around the arrival of this century
Good luck
While this will work I’ve noticed that there are potentially some things that may require workarounds to get working.
20.04 is the version that’s used to build LightBurn and seemingly the version with the least number of potential surprises if that’s a priority.
Is this documented anywhere… most people will eventually move to version 22. I haven’t run into anything I’m aware of… Of course if I use 10% of Lightburns capabilities I think I’m doing well at 10%…
I do follow it’s used as a platform for Lightburn development and testing and would probably be the most stable version…
Still curious about the ‘some things’…?
Can’t recall if I saw anything documented but ran into this during my recent exploration getting LightBurn running on Raspberry Pi on one of my side quests.
I may be misremembering because I went through quite a few iterations in a short time but I believe one of the issues was related to the ability to get Linux updates through the Update check. I recall potentially a camera issue as well.
I can say with certainty that there are definitely some symbol differences in the libraries between 20.04 and 22.04 that I saw when using those libraries for emulation.
LightBurn is fairly conservative about shifting. Recall that shift to 20.04 happened only very recently and previously had been on 16.04 if I’m remembering correctly. Part of this may be since LightBurn is still using QT5.
…one of these things is (with me) my original LightBurn camera.
Works perfectly under 20.04 but not under 22, the camera was/is (unfortunately) also the problem with Manjaro.
Both of these would have escaped me. I get a notification from Lightburn when a new version shows up…
Haven’t used the CO2 machine in almost a month, only to cut out focusing sticks for the new fiber… it’s taken most of my time… there is also snow outside
I’ll keep the differences in mind.
@berainlb will suggest the 20.04 version from now on…
