LightBurn and XBaitu M81 20-watt Configuration

I am assembling an XBaitu 20W M81 engraver/cutter. The LED vs CO2 settings in the configuration that switches from mm/minute to mm/sec seems to be important, but does it do anything except change the units?

Since 100mm/sec is the same as 6000mm/minute is it just a reference to how much slower diode lasers can operate or is there more going on that it appears under the covers?

Pretty much, the physical speed is the same no matter what the units…

It’s always nice to note that somewhere unless you’re obviously using an led or co2…

I tend to have both of my machines set for mm/s because I am used to seeing that speed…

:smile_cat:

Thanks mucho.

The early GRBL / arduino set ups can max out in terms of clock-speed and steps per second. There’s also a minimum speed that one community member ran into.

GRBL is mm/minute in the firmware. Tell us more about your controller.

I made a typo in the title message, it is ZBAITU instead of XBAITU for the brand but I cannot edit that in the first message any more.

This is using an ESP32 microcontroller and a small PWM 20W (optical) diode laser.
