LightBurn - Atomstack A5 PRO+

I had to stop for many months. I changed my PC. I reinstalled a new LightBurn license. I still have the Atomstack A5 Pro+. For the test, I wanted to make a 20 x 20 mm cut with the origin set to the laser position (not absolute). However, when I start the laser, it moves to the right, hitting the limit, and keeps trying until I press the stop button. I’ve made numerous attempts, changing settings… but there seems to be no reason for this behavior. Or maybe I forgot something? I also set up endstops, and if I do ‘home,’ it works correctly. I’m confused.

Is this when you turn the laser on or when you hit the start button for the project?

Does this mean after you hit the home button the project runs correctly, or just that the homing behavior is correct?

Please post a screenshot of your entire Lightburn screen with your project loaded and the Cuts/Layers Panel and Laser Panel visible. Also post a screenshot of the Settings Window (Gears icon) with the Units and Grids tab visible and post a screenshot of the Device Settings Window (Wrench and Screwdriver icon).

This only happens when I start a project. For now, it was a 20x20 square to check if everything was working correctly. If I tell it to go to the origin, everything is fine. To perform the cut, I set the local origin relative to the laser’s position. So, I have a 20x20 square with the laser manually positioned near the origin. I start the cut, which should begin from the coordinate I set… but instead, it moves to the right and hits the frame.

@thelmuth may have a better answer, but here is my version.

Use Absolute Coords. and not worry about the Origin. If you are putting your part in the middle of the table, move your drawing in the Lightburn workspace to match.

How?

  1. Jog your laser to a known position on your part. Fire button is handy for this.
  2. Click Show Last Position in the Laser window until you see that little red cross.
  3. Move your part drawing so it is aligned with the red cross to match the laser location.
  4. Frame to make sure you are aligned properly.

You will also see if your part is out of bounds too.

You did not provide any of the screenshots I asked you for. It may seem pointless to you, but I frequently can see the problem in a few seconds looking at those screenshots. It saves everyone time in the end.
