Lightburn crash updating overlay

Trial seemed ok but now crashes if Lightburn is open too long then viewing camera. Works great when I just open Lightburn and run a job but if I leave it open too long (over an hour), I go to the camera controls and the image is hung but the app still continues. When the camera display is hung, I hit the “update overlay” and the app hangs and I have to force stop in windows. The only message I get in event viewer is below. When restarting the app I can’t connect to the laser until I power it off and back on unless I completely reboot the computer. I just enabled debug mode so I’ll attach next time it happens

Lightburn version 1.3.01
Windows version Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (19405.2486)
Processor Intel Core i5-3470 @3.2GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Camera XPCAM A9 1080p (Logitech clone)

I plan to upgrade to a lightburn camera when I get additional funding.

The program LightBurn.exe version 0.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Thank you for reporting and drawing this to our attention. And yes please, we would like to see any debug data you gather along with any steps required to reproduce that you discern, as we investigate further.

I was able to reproduce easily. I opened Lightburn a couple hours ago and ran a job then just let the computer sit for a few hours. I went back to the system and could tell in the camera control window that the screen was not updating. As soon as I hit the update overlay button, the program hangs. I have let it for 30 minutes to see it it would respond and nothing. The last entries in the LightBurnLog.txt file are below. I can also send the whole file if necessary.

Upon further investigation, it’s not related to any sleep settings. I can make the program hang by repeating the “update overlay” multiple times. The workaround for me is to close the app between models if I need to update my positioning. It doesn’t matter how long the app is open nor any potential sleep settings. I’ve seen it on 2 different USB cameras while testing

Previous issue: Lightburn crash updating overlay

Thank you for the additional input.
I’ve merged this back into the locked thread and I’ll unlock it in case you find more to add.

Further, I’ll add this new information to the Crash report.

Hello. I encounter the same crash quite often. I will gather logs soon and post to this thread as well. I’ve been seeing this problem for 4+ months so it’s not a regression in only the latest release.

I use lightburn on a macbook pro laptop while in the comfort of my office until I have my cut settings prepared. Once I am ready to cut, I take my laptop to the garage and plug in a USB-C hub connected to the laser and lightburn camera. Once I open the camera settings window and click “Update overlay” the program crashes immediately. When I re-open lightburn after a crash I notice my file isn’t in the “recent projects” list and many of the changes I made before the crash have been lost.

It looks like Lightburn becomes confused when the camera is accessed after being disconnected and reconnected to the laptop.

Here is the crash report from my most recent crash.
