Lightburn does not connect to my laptop

Hello,
New to this software and laser. I have a shapeoko 5 pro engraver and added a laser to it. The upgrade is from J-Tech and its a 24 watt pro model. They recommended Lightburn to drive the machine. My operating system is a HP laptop running windows 10. The problem I’m having is I setup the machine in lightburn for GRBL and saved it. Closed down lightburn, started the machine, restarted lightrburn and laser status says ready. If I go to the console tab it says waiting for connection then connection failed port is already in use. Thats as fare as I get. Opened up Device manager in windows and the port is showing my Shapeoko 5 pro connected. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

For those of you having the same problem, I read this on the J-Tech website and did exactly as the steps stated and now it connects and managed to do a test piece.

On the Shapeoko5 machine there have been some customers who will see connection issues in Lightburn (no connecting) in some cases. Here is a specific startup procedure you can use to help.

  1. Make sure you have nothing open on your computer. Exit Lightburn and Carbide motion.
  2. Turn the machine on. If it was already on, then cycle the machine so it is fresh.
  3. Open Carbide Motion and Initialize the machine. Wait for it to initialize.
  4. Close Carbide Motion.
  5. Open Lightburn. Make sure you have the correct COM port selected.
  6. It should now connect in Lightburn.

Not sure why this is needed sometimes, but it seems to solve the issue.
