hi
my first post after 5 years of looking and reading and summation of it all
have year 2018-2019 saved from scrapyard for ~$1k gwklaser lc1390 and trying to upgrade to Lichuan EtherCAT CL3-E57H system or at this moment for now to StepperOnline CL57T for z axis 2 motors to fix auto-level problems and reason for ending in scrapyard
i prefer open system linux os if possible not closed system straitjacket limitations
at moment is using RDC6442 Upgrading to Ruida RDC6445s for auto-level LightBurn support
need more axis motors for 4 motors auto-feed on each corner and roller axis 2 motors drive and 2 axis for x and y so i need 8 axis as you can see Ruida RDC6445s 4 axis is to limited for my expansion at this moment looking at linuxcnc ethecat LightBurn support still in development state
my thinking is if you can support ethercat directly will save lot of time for all of as no more axis motor expansion limit (~200 axis limit on 1 network and robot arm options ) and usb interface problems and limitation
we can start founding campaign for support of this option if possible
hi
i did not know this was public as i needed to register and confirm my email
so only registered user can respond
i can use all help i can get for this so i like to make it as simple as possible any user to respond
yes you are correct no ethercat support yet that is way i was asking if it was possible to get a solution for it example pi5 as code translator little refresh of technology advancement to robotics
and ethernet connection instead finicky usb flavors and simple motors addition in power or size
and less wiring as all (axis limits and home estop ,2 outs ports per motor driver) is local to ethercat driver and motor location
