What happens instead? You should be given the option for a number of payment types. They may be specific to your country.
License period only affects the term for when you can get updates. However, even if the license expires you can use the version of the software you currently have indefinitely.
If you want to continue to receive updates you can pay for a renewal at a reduced price.

Does your machine home to the upper-right? If so, you should set your machine to the upper right which is common with Ruida.
You can change this in Edit->Device Settings.
