Hello Noel

Visual helpers would be great for us to help you.

Can you post a full screenshot with your project open so we can take a look?

Your engrave on what appears to be mdf looks good.
Then you’re on plywood
Your material test seems to be on some unknown material.
Each material will have different settings that work.
Maybe start on some cardboard to get the hang of it then go from there.

Your speeds are far too high. If you want to engrave, try speeds around 3000 mm/min, for cutting, 600 mm/min.

I have to agree with Misken on this, the speeds look very high to me as well. I engrave at around 6000mm p/min at between 35% and 90% power and get good results. I do cut a bit slower than the 600 that Misken suggest but again that depends on the material. You might also want to check that your setting are set at mm per minute. I sometimes have this problem when changing between the Diode and Co2 where it wont change the setting back to mm p/min and then i have what looks like no output from the laser.

Hello @nollaigo, judging by the images shared it can be assumed that you own a AtomStack A5 M50 Laser Engraver 5W Engraving Cutting Machine.

As rightly pointed out by @misken the speeds are excessive and the power is way too low for a 5W diode laser engraver to translate to any meaningful cuts or engravings. I am attaching two references from the manufacturer which might help you tune your speed and power settings:

Hope this helps!
