Lightburn not connecting to a MacBook Pro

Cannot get Lightburn to connect to My Macbook Pro. I have read and tried some of the suggestions to solve the problem from YouTube without success. Please, please help. I’m sure some of you guys have had the same problem somewhere along the line.
It would be nice if someone from the UK could reply and I could talk on phone.

Any help wpould be gratefully received.

Best regards Alan

Absolutely. We’ve seen this a few times. The first thing we need to clarify is whether the laser engraver you are attempting to connect to is an xTool D1 or an xTool D1 Pro.

Any steps that you may have previously attempted would be good to know.
Key points here are:

  • Did you follow the setup instructions for your device at the xTool website?
  • Have you installed any other laser controller software?
  • Have you installed the serial communication chip ‘CH340’ driver?
  • did you click ‘ok’ when you installed the driver?

With the driver installed, the next thing to check is that no other software, LaserBox or LaserGRBL is running in the background. Programs in the background can monopolize the USB port making it unavailable to LightBurn.

In an effort to keep support costs low, LightBurn does not offer telephone support.
It’s been discussed, but the costs of a call center would increase the license costs considerably.

This may be worth review:

Hi Alan - I’ve had a similar issue. In my case the laser isn’t being detected at USB level, doesn’t show up at all, neither in Finder nor under the system information. Problem seems to be Ventura 13.2.1 - some seem to be having issues with it not detecting some USB devices - if you have one of the newer MacBooks using Apple silicon you could try looking under Privacy and Security - there’s a new button “Allow devices to connect”, though doesn’t show up for me - I’m guessing because I’m Intel based.
I resolved the issue by using Windows running under Bootcamp - laser shows up but had to be added manually in Lightburn. Not ideal solution but allows me to use laser until Mr.Apple extracts the digit and releases a patch/fix for the USB problem.
