Lightburn not responding crash

Having an issue with Lightburn crashing, usually it happens while the computer is connected to the laser. After making a cut if I go back to the computer it is locked up and I have to close the program and restart the laser. Today while working on a design it crashed continually. I have a brand new computer which should handle the program easily. After reading through several forum posts I found where a call stack should be captured. Just looking to see if anyone else is having the same issue. I am getting a not responding error and the whole screen dims.

Okay so it just crashed again. I ran a job on the laser and it was fine. When I went back to make the final design change I went back to the program and it was froze up, It displayed the not responding error. I ran the process explorer and this is what the call stack shows.

LightBurn shouldn’t crash.

I have shared this with the Dev team internally and we will attempt to replicate the hang. Are you willing to share the LBRN or LBRN2 file?

If so, you can post it here or email it to Support@LightBurnsoftware.com with a link to this forum thread and a note so we can follow this up right away.

I’ve never seen this before - The file is not complex enough to cause any problems, and the call stack you provided is showing that it’s hung up querying the serial port to see if it’s valid.

Can you re-run the LightBurn installer, and check the box at the end to install the FTDI driver? That’s the one used by the chip in Ruida controllers - I’m wondering if perhaps you installed a bad driver, or the one you have got corrupted somehow.

Every one of those crashes is in that function, which is part of the Windows NT kernel (IE, the low-level operating system code).

If I was a betting man, I’d say there’s a decent possibility that something in Windows itself is corrupted. Do you have any other computers you can try this on? I assume this is Windows 10?

I do not have another computer to try, my last one was 12 years old. Actually it is a brand new Dell 7770 running Windows 11 Pro. Should I try a reinstall of windows?
