Lightburn Says connected, but will not move laser head or run projects

Might go through this list

Could have used this with the Koz problem!

OMG. This was one of the first things I tried early on and did not have success, but this time it seems to have worked?!? Is there an underlying issue here since this is an on-and-off issue for me? or is this just one of those 90’s “pull it out and blow on it till it works” things?

Hey Ya’ll. Me again LOL. Had a few weeks off from using the laser and now I’m having the same issue all over again. Done about 10 restarts, reseated the SD card as many times, and still no movement. This is really frustrating, and I feel like I’m just being dumb

It’s likely not you and there’s something legitimately wrong with the hardware… but just slightly to the point where it’s unpredictable.

It’s possible the SD card reseating was a false positive last time. However, let’s assume for the moment that it’s related.

Try inspecting the SD card and card slot. Do you see any corrosion or oxidation that could be making a bad connection? Try cleaning the card and slot contacts. The slot may be difficult but if you have any contact cleaner that may help.

Try reading the SD card from your computer and make sure it’s behaving correctly. Try a different card to see if that changes behavior.

Failing those, I’d suggest examining the area around the SD Card slot on the PCB. Do you see any obvious damage? Try physically flexing the board around that area. Does that expose any issues? Try flexing the board while trying to connect. Does that change anything? Try looking for a cold solder joint, damage, or possibly a solder bridge.

You could attempt a general cleaning of the board if it’s particularly dirty. I’d suggest using IPA for any board cleaning.

From the SD Card I’d suggesting moving closer to the USB port for similar examination.

Thank you for this. I don’t know much about the board hardware, but it is less than a year old, and I don’t drive it hard. No visible issues that I can see. I’m feeling pretty ready to throw in the towel as the list of possible solutions are getting more difficult or expensive than they are worth for me at this stage :frowning:
