Lightburn set for on slate

Hello
I have a creality Falcon 2 22w and work with lightburn.
I would like to engrave something on slate.
Is it correct that I have to convert this into the negative (how do I set it up in lightburn?
Which setting should I use for lasering?
Speed: 6000mm/min
Power: 40%

You have to see how the material reacts with the laser.

Both of these are slate… one engraves dark and one engraves light. If you need a negative image or not depends on what damage the laser does to the slate…

Make sense?

My 20-ish watt (advertised as 24, but China.) runs the cheap Amazon coasters at 7000mm/min and powers from about 8-30% depending on desired shade.

Speed seems have a relatively smaller effect than power and interval. Higher than about 30% power and the slate blisters (feels like about 120 grit sandpaper) and turns a light sepia tone.

You’ll want to run your own tests.

I do see notable variation from batch to batch (same Mfg) on the lighter shades. Plus or minus a few percent is the difference between unmarked and medium grey. “White” seems to be fairly reliable if you want to keep things simple.

I believe all natural materials behave like this…

The fiber works well on slate coasters … and is fast

Quit teasing!

It cost me a lot of money for the tease

Now you are bragging!
